November 26th, 2010 - Professor Bodywise's Traveling Menagerie

November 26th, 2010 - Professor Bodywise's Traveling Menagerie

I acquired this poster as a kid probably from some health fair or school. I took a picture of it a while back because we found it in some stuff in the garage. I forgot about it until this week when I was emptying out my camera flash card then I realized, This poster probably played a huge part in what I am today. I had and still have no idea what it was for, but I remember staring at this thing for yeeears amazed at how really cool all the costumes and characters were.  Thank you, Professor Bodywise.

  2. This was a really elaborate live production that traveled around elementary schools in the mid 80's. I saw it performed in probably fourth grade and I've always remembered it. It was really cool and honestly a little bit terrifying.

  3. That vulture in the back; his name was 'Scumble' and he was supposed to be a drug pusher or something. The suit at full height was almost nine feet tall. Nightmare fuel for sure.

  4. You must have seen a performance of Kaiser Permanente's "Professor Bodywise and His Traveling Menagerie".

The blue cat is Nikki Teen...and she tried to get kids to smoke.

The Vulture is Scumble....and he tries to get you to do drugs.

I think Evil the Weevil (based on Evil Knieval) also tried to get you to take drugs because he'd race around and crash into things, like he was on cocaine or speed.

Boring G. Boring was addicted to TV...I think he might be the fat thing in the middle.

Another character I remember was NutriBeast...but I couldn't tell you which one he was.
